Lovin' Life!

I am really bad at this blog thing, which explains why I haven't posted since... um August! Anyways, there have been lots of changes in our lives over the past 7 months so I thought I would write about a few (because I know there are so many people dying to hear about us judging from the 1 follower we have! Thanks Shan!)
First of all, we moved to West Haven!  We are absolutely LOVING our new apartment which has about three hundred more square feet than our last place, not to mention an extra bedroom and bath!  Our new area is so much nicer as well.  We would a thousand times rather live next door to cowboys and hillbillies out in the boonies than next to gangstas in the city.  We have also enjoyed listening to farming parables at church and being surrounded by country folk, cows, and horses... brings me back to my Idaho days. It is awesome to have an extra room for all of the STUFF we have, after being married for only two and a half years I'm amazed at how much STUFF we have!  Our new place also upgraded us to full-size washer and dryers, a walk-in pantry and closet, and granite countertops.  We're not the only ones loving the new place either, Max is loving the extra room to run around, the big porch to sunbathe and howl at people from, and the fenced in dog park.  Although we are farther away from Mike's work in Bountiful, we are closer to family and well out of the city!  P.S. I hate living in the city!

We LOVE the open floor plan!

Mike is still working as an automotive technician at the Larry Miller dealership in Bountiful.  He was just recognized as the only tech in the shop to be both Chrysler and ASE certified!  Which is why I've been pushing him to re-certify because a little recognition for your accomplishments can only make your life better!  Apparently word has got around about Mike and his hard work and certifications because people in pretty much every Larry Miller shop know his name and reputation, in fact when he went into the Riverdale store the Manager asked him if he was "The Mike Thompson."  I know he gets embarrassed when I brag about him, but he's so amazing and such a hard worker that it's hard not to show him off a little!

As for me, I graduated from Weber State with a Bachelor's Degree in History Teaching and Health Promotion last Spring but have unfortunately not been able to find a permanent teaching position for the 2010-2011 school year.  As I continue my search for the 'Elusive Teaching Job' I have been able to keep busy substitute teaching for Weber and Davis school districts, which not only allows us to put a little extra money aside each month, but also gives me the chance to be out in the schools meeting new people and getting some teaching experience! I would have to say my favorite part of subbing would have to be the kids asking me every single day "How old are you? Because you look like you're 16."  And my personal favorites, "Are you a new student?" or " I thought you were the TA."  I've even been asked that one by teachers.  Anyhoo, I guess it's better than being told "You look like my friend's Mom," which I was told by one boy by the way.  So I have been enjoying subbing and have been taking time for some personal hobbies (including Zumba, crafting, scrapbooking, and sewing) and have just been lovin' life and lovin' where we're headed in the future!  Oh, and keeping my fingers crossed that some teachers will retire this year!
